Background

Tourism Declares launched on January 14th 2020, with signatories from across the industry.

The initiative was set up by Alex Narracott (CEO of Much Better Adventures), and Jeremy Smith (sustainable tourism writer and consultant).

Inspired by the Climate Emergency Declarations taking place in other sectors, we felt there was the need for a tourism-specific declaration that brought together organisations and individuals from across the industry under a common goal.

We were supported pre-launch by a group of leading responsible tourism tour operators (including Intrepid Travel, Better Places, Explore, Exodus, Responsible Travel and The Blue Yonder), as well as the Adventure Travel Trade Association, The Long Run, and leading sustainable tourism academics.
